Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was intrigued by stars and comets. Every morning, when a child Chanel would walk across the corridor of polished pebbles that were arranged in geometric patterns with five-pointed stars. These memories were to inspire the theme of her first jewellery collection, Bijoux de Diamants, in Paris in 1932. Many years later this theme was reintroduced into her collections. Her iconic CC's seen on so many of her creations was an interpretation of a stained glass window in the Aubazine Abbey, Correze, in France where she spent her early years in the orphanage at Aubazine.
