Description

Extremely rare and special, this gold plated faux pearl chain features beautifully sculpted camellia spacers. Hidden pinch-push clasp closure with safety chain featuring Chanel autheticity mark and dated 1982. Coco Chanel was the first designer to introduce her faux pearls into her collections. This sparked a trend that remains one of the staple items of costume jewellery today. Layers of pearls were seen on her simple couture clothes worn by Chanel herself. In the 1930`s Chanel partnered with Duke Fulco de Vedura, of Verdura Jewellery to launch a collection of timeless designs including byzantine jewellery that Chanel introduced into her collections too. She was one of the most influential fashion icons of all time. During a very brief career as a cabaret singer, Chanel performed in clubs in Vichy and Moulins where she was nicknamed “Coco.” Chanel jewellery is generally bold in design, gold or silver plated with distinctive colouring. Her iconic CC's seen on so many of her creations was an interpretation of a stained glass window in the Aubazine Abbey, Correze, in France where she spent her early years in the orphanage at Aubazine.
