Description

The ultimate in eighties decadence. Bold faux pearl necklace with panther head centre. Features gold plated and grey enamel panther's head and ring, embellished with round-cut Swarovski crystals and green cabochon eyes. 10 mm gunmetal faux pearls fitted with crystal spacers. Screw closure, signed Kenneth J. Lane. The panther animal represents power and protection and is a symbol of valour, courage, and determination. Kenneth Jay Lane’s “big cat” pieces were inspired by the Cartier's fine jewellery created in the 1940s and 50s for the Duchess of Windsor. His first costume jewellery show at New York's Saks Fifth Avenue sold out in one day. His pieces were coveted by the Duchess of Windsor, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy.By the 1960`s the company became known as K.J.L and were producing brooches and other pieces that reflected Asian influences, incorporating everything from Buddhas to dragons to Indian Goddesses.
