1980s Vintage Chanel Statement Clip-On Earrings

Make a statement. Gold plated large round clip-on earrings. Features quilted round centre with iconic CC logo and jet black enamel surround. Chanel's quilting detail was inspired by the puffy jackets worn by the horse breeders at her boyfriend’s stables. It was first seen on her bags in 1955 and the quilted detail so often seen on her Chanel jewellery was introduced in the 80s under the helm of Victoire De Castellane. She was one of the most influential fashion icons of all time. During a very brief career as a cabaret singer, Chanel performed in clubs in Vichy and Moulins where she was nicknamed “Coco.” Chanel jewellery is generally bold in design, gold or silver plated with distinctive colouring. Her iconic CC's seen on so many of her creations was an interpretation of a stained glass window in the Aubazine Abbey, Correze, in France where she spent her early years in the orphanage at Aubazine.
