Signed Attwood & Sawyer Queen Alexandra was known to wear countless star and crescent moon brooches across her bodice thus creating a revival of star and crescent shaped motif jewellery. Stars and crescents were popular motifs since the 17th century with women of the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras adding diamond star bursts and crescent jewels to their collections, inspired by the fascination for astronomy and astrology.
